Treated myself to a tourney

After missing out on the live triple shootout tourney (due to my sleepiness) and seeing how dark it was @ 6-7am in Downtown Toronto (didn't like the idea of walking :P). I decided to play the 500K $200+15 buyin on PokerStars. I started off mild just staying around the starting stack (T2500) by picking up pots preflop. I then finally double up on 200/400 blinds when UTG (Under the gun or first to act) limped and I pushed all in with AKc 8xmin (3200) and he calls A7o to put me up to 7000 in chips. I then called a min raise on the BB with JTs only to see JJ3 flop :D chk flop, chk turn (rag) and I led 3xmin on river and he called with A high, YAY I WIN. I then won a couple pots pf and built up to 13K. It then had a big pot confrontation when LP (cutoff I believe) raised it to 2400 (3x) and I raised it to 7000. S/he pushed all in 5K more and I called with AQd. He shows QQ, dam :( Flop came KJx (giving me 4 more outs), turn Q (dam, he hit case Q, to give me 4 outs) and a BEAUTIFUL RIVER (T) :D I was up to 26K :D I then went on a -6K run where I went completely card dead and cards i could raise with in late position had to be folded to earlier position raises. I finally made the money and was down to 11K somehow on 1.5/3K blinds. I was UTG+1 and pushes all in with AQc. MP (middle position) called all in for 2K and BB called as well. It was me AQc vs MP (AJo) and BB (TT). Flop came down KT7 (2 clubs), YAY I STILL HAVE OUTS. Turn is a Q, well MP made his broadway. So i needed a club (doesn't pair board) or a J on river to win. A BEAULTIFUL J spreads and I suck out for the 2nd time with AQc vs flopped set. I then went on a cold run of cards where I pick up a pot pf and lose blinds and it went like this for an hour and finally I pushes with A9 to be called against 77. 7 flopped, but I turned a flush (I had lone heart) and river did not bring me a heart :( GG to me, $600 cash ($400 profit). Not bad, but I woulda prefered to be 130K richer ;)

Pokerless Week, but can I beat 880 for 10K?

Well the past week I haven't had much poker action going on. Probably play 4 or 5 tournaments, without any finishes worth mentioning (ie small cashes or loses). But tomorrow (Sunday 16th), there is a poker tournament being held near my residence in the format of a triple shootout where the winner gets $10K! Wow, wouldn't that be sweet, considering the buyin is free. Hopefully I wake up in time and lug myself down there. You can check out www.greatcdn.com for more details. I'll hopefully have an update tomorrow on how I do :D

Omaha 8/b

I finished my classes today and headed home from my residence. Since my family had recently moved into our new house, we didn't have any Cable/DSL connection, but luckily I had a DIAL UP account. I had to use it after 11:30 pm though, so not to interfere with people calling in. Once I logged in, I noticed a bunch of tourneys I had missed on PokerStars that night. I then surfed the net and signed up for the Omaha 8/b + Rebuys tourney ($5+0.50 entry). I think this game is one of my better games as I have pretty much a solid read on this level of play (not sure how my play would vary at the WSOP tournament level). I took a rebuy off the bat putting me up to 3K in chips and dwindled up and down until the last hand before the break where I rivered a flush and went up to 5500 chips. Took the addon and 7500 chips at the break. I then continued building up and down and by the third break I was almost in the money, but goal of winning (I chopped a $5+R Omaha 8/b tourney before, as well as winning a $10+1 Omaha 8/b Freezeout). I eventually made the money and having gone up and down eventually lost when my A23K (A3s) ran into 4567 and the board came down J97, turn rag, river no ace or king and I was done in 13th place. $40 prize, but I would have liked to come first, or even a final table appearence. But I can't be too greedy. And Sundays coming up, so its GAME DAY :D And I'm feel'in LUCKY :D

LONG WEEKEND YAY!

After a dissapointing cash last night in the $20+2 on PokerStars I have to get the POKER-JO going. With the long weekend just about to start for me, I think I'll be able to fit in some quality poker time. Weekends if always optimal for me now that school has started. My plan is to try to qualify for the 500K tourney on PS this weekend, and play some other tournaments. If I'm as lucky as I was last week, hopefully the KHARMA will keep rolling, I may be able to have a great cash :D Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all you Canadians out there!

Paradise Million Dollar Freeroll

After reading that a forumer from ITH (Internet Texas Holdem) had came 3rd in the MILLION DOLLAR FREEROLL for 10K (1st being a cool million). I decided to try my luck in MILLION DOLLAR FREEROLL Qualifier. It started with 54, and top 5 getting seats. Luck ran good early and took my 1500 stack up to 13K when he hit the final 9. then it dwindled down to 10K ish where I raised AK and the BB (7K called). A69 flop, was looking good. I led out the same preflop (1800) to hopefully get a raise from him maybe thinking I was weak as he was the short stack and I needed him out. He called, possibly good and pushed on the turn (9). I called hoping he had a weaker ace, but nope, he had 66 good for a full house. No A or K and I am down to 3K (4 big blinds). I then stacked off within an orbit and was out in 7th. I'll probably try again. Having a shot at a Million Dollars for FREE is cool with me :D

No poker today, had to do some nitty gritty

Well, after slacking off on the weekend playing my favourite game. Work load got a little cramp. So I had to kick it up and finish a couple of assignments so that I would have some free time later in the week for some Tourneys :D I got a Pre Lab done and about to work on another assignment.

I was feeling Lucky on Sunday...I AM LUCKY :D!! GO KHARMA!!

So I woke up late today, no $36+3 qualifier on PS (to 500K) oh well. Played the Interpoker 50K added, no luck :( Timed out with AK, AKA flop yuck...and EP raised 40xall in and I Called with KK and he had AK for Axx yuck.

I then spoke to Jason (Jdawg) and he was telling me about this Kharma show. He was even kind enough to send me couple episodes and WSOP Eps too!!!

He then told me about the 15K Guaranteed on Pac Poker, which he said would have an overlay, he decided not to play last minute, but I decided to put up my $15+1.50 and play int he 3K overlay tourney. Got AA early but then sent all those chips back on some hand. Went card dead for 1-1.5 hours and but then had a string of AK AK AQ (3 hands in a row starting on the button) which vaulted me from 1500 to 8K in chips. Then played some solid poker and went up and down but mostly UP UP UP! Got down to the final 2 table where I became 2nd in chips. MP raised min I flat called with AT on BB. AKx flop and I checkraised him min bet to 3xmin and he pushed all in 6xmin which I had to call pot odds. Hoping he had A9 A8, nope he had AJ :( From 2nd in chips to 2nd last in chips with 14 left. I manage to get into the final table with 40K (SS on 4/8K blinds). I push on the first hand in LP with A8 and win. I then get AJ and raise it up 2.5 and get a call from LP (I think he put a move on me last time where i check folded to him), flop came down JJ4, i checked he put me all in and I instacalled. his K8 was not good and I was upt o 110K (top 4 in chips). I then continued to play good, putting good pressure and betting where I thought they had given up on the pot. Ie 22 on AKT4 (I raised pf, we chked flop, and I bet out 1/3 pot on turn and he folded). I continued to play solid poker raising (and folding if my hand that I raised with got reraised) and checkraising a lot. I could tell who the fishies were. Top 3 player (screen shot below) were the best player IMO, other were too reckless. I took out 4th place with AK, 2nd place took out 3rd place. Then the HU lasted around 10 hands max. I checkraised 1st hand and won.

One of the two defining hands heads up. This occured when we were even in chips, I raise K8 (3x) on button and he called. AT4 flop, he checked, I led out for 4-5 BB and he called (hhmmm, I thought maybe Ace, maybe Ten), turn was a K (oh I hit) he checked again, I bet 6xmin (to test him, he flat called). River was an Ace, he checked again, a normal person may have checked the pot here and HOPE their King was good, I KNEW it was good and put him on a pair Tens and value bet it with a 7x bet. He again called and my Kings were good, he was down to 1/2 his stack.

We exchanged blind sfor 2-3 hands where he then raised min on button and I pushed him all in 10xmin with 88. He called and board came out 55789, so I may have sucked him out, or I may have been good. But I won and feel great, very excited.
